SberFood finds out how number of restaurant reservations increases on Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2020, Moscow — Analysts of Sberfood, a Sberbank ecosystem resident, have looked into how the number of restaurant reservations has been changing ahead of February 14, 2020.

The number of table reservations for two exceeds average annual figures almost nine times on Valentine’s Day. This is a record number even compared to other holidays, when reservations spike. For example, on December 31 and March 8 couples reserved 76% and 13% less tables than on February 14.

Residents of Moscow booked tables at restaurants one week before Valentine’s Day under special holiday campaigns. This year people reserved by 18% more tables at restaurants that have special offers for couples.

The average order value on Valentine’s Day increased by 14% compared to last year. The maximum AOV of RUB 4,773 was registered in Repino town, Leningrad Region. The leaders by average dinner cost are Petropavlovsk with RUB 3,516, Khabarovsk with RUB 3,208 and St. Petersburg with RUB 3,160. Moscow only took the 14th place in the ranking; last year its residents spent an average of RUB 2,027 on a February 14 dinner.
