25 May 2018, Saint Petersburg – Sberbank Venture Pulse has held a foresight session, ‘In 2018, what should we invest in?’ in which leading experts from Silicon Valley took part. The moderator of the discussion was First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank Lev Khasis.
Fort Ross Ventures Partner Anurag Chandra, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ru-Net Leonid Boguslavsky, Foundation Capital Partner Rodolfo Gonzalez, Vice President of Intel Corporation Shannon Poulin, Managing Director of PitchBook Douglas Trafelet, Artiman Ventures Partner Amit Shah, JVP Labs Managing Partner Yoav Tzruya, and Stern Ventures Managing Partner Cang Quach took part in the discussion.
During the session, the international experts discussed the most important issues of the venture capital market, namely, areas where the most active investment growth can be expected, and where decreasing investors interest may be seen, how the corporate appraisal in different stages of the investment will change and what can we expect today from initial public offerings.
“We can see that the priority areas of venture investments are everything concerning artificial intelligence, robots, and blockchain,” said Mr Khasis. “In these areas Russia is already more developed than many other countries, and Russian investors focus on Asian companies, exporting experience and knowledge that has been accumulated in Russia.”
The main objective of the meeting was to inform the audience about the trends and prospects of market development. The participants and experts noted the importance and timeliness of the event, as growing interest of corporates and individuals in the investment in start-ups means that exhaustive information on the venture business in Russia and in the world is needed.
